Why We Swim: The goal of the Northern Dauphin County YMCA's Gator Swim Team is to provide every member an opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at his or her level of ability. The program is open to youth of all levels & abilities and is the perfect program for those who love to swim and enjoy competitive swimming, as well as those who may have never previously competed as part of a team. Swimmers compete in local swim meets providing friendly competition while learning sportsmanship, dedication and teamwork. We offer a fun relaxed environment with a focus on improving skills and achieving results.

Competitive swimming is FUN and it creates memories and friendships that last a lifetime! Swimming champions come in all shapes and sizes: kids don't need to be big to succeed. Everyone gets a chance to participate, there are no second stringers, no bench warmers.

The Gators home pool is located at 500 N. Church Street in Elizabethville, PA 17023.

Organized as an outreach center in 1985, this branch serves 32,000 residents in the northern part of Dauphin County. The Branch opened its new 13,000 square foot building in 1994.

  • Team News

    • Congratulations to the Gators who participated in the Alex Moser Memorial Invitational on February 5, 2012. Logan Roadcap took 1st place in the overall for Boys 9-10 year olds. 2nd place overall winners included Addie Snyder (15-over girls), Hunter Reed (15-over boys), Richard Cross (13-14 boys) and Kyle Casner (8-under boys). Kelsey Dorman (15-over boys) brought home a 3rd place overall. Other place winners include: Girls 9-10: Natalie Miller 10th, Emma Reed and Lydia Troutman tied for 11th, Jessica Hoffman 14th, Lauren Kofalt 17th and Shannon Seiders 23rd. Girls 11-12: Emily Miller 20th, Lindsey Casner 29th. Boys 11-12: Noah Reed 8th. Girls 13-14: Natalie Frantz 7th, Amanda Miller 9th and Ava Kappenhagen 18th. Girls 15-over: Samantha Lindsay and Mackenzie Klock tied for 6th.

  • League Affiliation

    As of 2011 the Gators compete in the YMCA Swim Coaches' Association of Pennsylvania. (YSCAP) is composed of member YMCA teams from the state of Pennsylvania. The mission and purpose of the association are to create an organized group of YMCA swim teams run by YMCA swim coaches dedicated to the successful growth of a swimmer's mind, body, and spirit, and to help all swimmers go beyond setting goals and find a true purpose for their life.

  • Practice Schedules for 2011/2012

    • For the purposes of Practice Schedules only, the following definition of teams will be used within the Gators
    • Green Gators Group A - Swimmers 12-Older and also swimmers identified by the coaching staff as ready to handle a more rigorous training program
    • Green Gators Group B - Swimmers 11- under
    • White Gators Group A - Swimmers 12-Older and also swimmers identified by the coaching staff as ready to handle a more rigorous training program
    • White Gators Group B - Swimmers 11- under
    • Green Gators practice 5 nights per week
      White Gators practice 3 nights per week
    • The practice group for each individual swimmer will be determined by the coaching staff based on his/her abilities.
    • Parents please understand it may not be possible to accomodate Group B swimmers during scheduled Group A only practice times for many reasons including limited lane space, available coaches etc. Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
